101 2016 The Anfir seal: a secure market reference BRF, one of the world’s largest companies and owner of brands Sadia, Perdigão and Qualy, controls all the highway implement suppliers to its carriers and accepts only those who have the ANFIR Seal, awarded by the National Association of Highway Implement Manufacturers, and managed by the Totum Institute, a certifying company specializing in self-regulation programs. Responsible for monitoring nearly 8,000 service providers’ vehicles, BRF’s transport area gained control of the companies and saw a dramatic reduction in truck breakdowns after it began to require certification. “The seal allows us to rank suppliers in a fair and independent way,” says Lucius Poffo, a transport specialist at BRF. Created in 2011, the ANFIR Seal certifies compliance with current regulations and, therefore, ensures market confidence in the implements industry in issues related to tax and labor laws. “The seal shows that the company’s management complies with the law, and is up to date with its obligations,” says the president of the ANFIR, Alcides Braga. “It is a tool with which the market can know about the companies in the sector, consolidating our transparency with clients and suppliers. It is a secure market reference,” says Braga. Used by 35 of ANFIR’s member companies, the seal is valid for two years and includes items required by Brazilian law, so that companies comply with any audits requested by their clients. The ANFIR Seal is managed in full alignment with national and international best practices, maintaining the current codification of processes. “The goal is to ensure that only technical points prevail,” says Fernando Lopes, associate director of the Totum Institute. The fact that only technical aspects count and the seal is authorized by a third party - the Totum Institute - makes the process more trustworthy in the eyes of clients who need to have their equipment certified in order to be able to work with large groups such as BRF. “The seal has become an extension of our company, our support. It ensures that highway implement manufacturers are fulfilling their obligations under the law,” says Poffo, of BRF. With ANFIR’s certification, control of companies that supply highway implements for the transport of products has become more agile. Previously it was necessary to submit the manufacturer’s tax registration number to the legal department to check if it was up to date with tax and labor documentation, and then to check on the company in situ, which took about three months. “Now the process is automatic,” says Poffo. He says that after BRF began working with approved companies that have the SNFIR Seal problems with truck breakdowns virtually ceased. “We rarely have this kind of problem. That corner has been turned,” he says. Awarded by the National Association of Highway Implement Manufacturers, the ANFIR Seal has become a benchmark for quality for the most demanding markets
