110 2015 Responsabilidade social Social responsibility Beyond the obligation Road implements manufacturers invest in environmental and social welfare programs and benefit thousands of people, communities as well as the ecosystem. When companies pay municipal, state and federal taxes they can be considered up to date with their social obligations. This assertion is based on the logic of the tax creation: they were originally created to resolve deficiencies in education, sport, and health areas, among others, in addition to generate funds for the public authorities to provide assistance to people in need. In practice though, tax burden, despite perceived to be high for individuals and legal entities, fails to solve problems. For this reason many entrepreneurs have assumed the responsibility of providing social welfare and take care of the environment through their business organizations. In the road implement segment, various industries are investing millions of dollars in programs with no financial return expected. “Librelato believes that when we do good, we got good things back. We have the culture to help the communities where we are in”, justifies Thayni Librelato da Silva, partner and counselor of Librelato. She reports that the main goal of these programs is to provide benefits both for the company and for external public. “We have units in Içara, Criciúma and Orleans, all in the State of Santa Catarina. That is, we are operating in a vast region and we want to further expand our sphere of action. To select a project, firstly we check its social importance and how many people will benefit from it, because our intention is to help as many people as possible “, she assures. Social welfare begins at home, with employees and their families and expands to the communities. This is the guiding philosophy of Random Programs. As an example she mentions the Florescer Program, which directly benefits the young participants, but whose social results expand toward their families and communities. “When attending Florescer, the young gains in terms of dignity and in prospect of a better life, because the program integrates the youth into society and the content received better prepare them as citizens,” says Wilson Roberto Ferri, commercial Director of Randon S/A Implementos e Participações. Wilson Ferri adds that, when it comes to benefits for employees, Randon has implemented the Profit Sharing Scheme (PSS), even before its legal requirement. “Also, social programs were being created along the 65 years trajectory of the company”, he assures. Individual and in partnership programs The Oficina do Saber (“Knowledge Workshop”) project, held in partnership with the Industry Social Service of Paraná (Sesi/PR) aims to integrate the company’s professionals in elementary school, so that they attend the equivalent program between 5th and 8th grade. Sesi provides the teacher and the studies are through disciplines elimination and include English, Science, Arts, Portuguese, Geography, Physical education and digital inclusion. At the end of each cycle, student receives the official certificate from the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC). Noma was deployed in 2013 and is a program that offers employees workplace classes four times a week. According to Rodrigo Fernandes, 30 people in total have benefited from it and thus were able to continue their studies. Randon created the Elisabetha Randon Institute to administer its five social programs, among them the Florescer and Florescer Iniciação Profissional, which have the Mission to encourage youths and teenagers to move toward a promising future, away from violence and drugs “ and always based on education and citizenship-oriented,” highlights Wilson Ferri. On the other hand, Novos Caminhos (“New Paths”), coordinated by Randon HR, prepares the career transition after retirement. “The activities focus on education for an active longevity. Employee and his family exchange information and expertise, use and expand their life experiences in order to cultivate new challenges. Inside the Randon dictionary the word STOP does not exist. Whatever the program is, the company is convinced of the education transformation power and always bets on people growth investing in training and professional specialization of human capital “, says the commercial Director. As a result of these programs, youths and adults access opportunities, and project themselves in both Group companies, as well as in educational & cultural activities. With the Book “Quem sou eu?” (“Who am I?”), Clarice Aparecida da Fonseca (14), beneficiary of the Florescer program conquered the 1st place in the VII Rede Recria literary contest, in category II (from 13 to 16 years) in prose, she received the award during the 30th Book Fair of Caxias do Sul. “My hobby is to read and write and when doing that, I feel free!” says the 8th grade student of Américo Ribeiro Mendes School. The Qualify program has graduated 413 youths and 99% of them, after courses completion, remained as Randon Companies employees. The Qualifying Program - Centro de Educação Profissional Randon/SENAI , created in 2005, whose focus is on human development, through the youths preparation and qualification for the labor market, led Randon company to conquer the Top Human Being Award 2014, at Organization category, granted by the Brazilian Association of Human Resources “, says the commercial Director.
