Anuário da Indústria de Implementos Rodoviários 2020

12 F orty years of work, transformation and achievements. This sums up ANFIR’s four decades in existence, witnessing the main changes experienced by Brazil in this period. From an economic model with a strong State, to the current environment, where the private sector has been consolidated, our industry sought a membership-based organization as an answer to face the new challenges. In 40 years, we have gone from a splintered sector, in which each company was an individual market agent, to forming a strong community sector, fighting for common needs and interests. During this period, we have welcomed and centralized proposals, discussions and demands from the industry, creating the optimal environment for the exchange of knowledge and understanding of our needs. This harmony among companies provided the current strength of our entity and its ability to address common issues, consolidating ANFIR as a representative and advocate of the interests of the highway cargo transportation segment and its manufacturers. Our public image is that of an organized sector agent, with active participation in the modernization process and increased safety of road cargo transportation. In four decades, we have faced a range of challenges, including one of the most serious crises in the history of our economy, which lasted more than three years and held GDP down. As a result, we lost two-thirds of our market and thousands of families lost their livelihoods. It was the time of cheap money that ended up being very costly for society and industry. We learned a lot from this bump and from the others that hurt our business. We have become more efficient and more cautious. The next few years will see a recovery in business and the consolidation of production at levels more consistent with our economic reality. We rely on the performance of the Brazilian economy as a whole. For the companies in the sector it is essential that other business segments develop in a sustainable manner. The industry will then be able to diversify sales, explore more market categories, expand its operations and better distribute its revenues, without concentrating its business in a few models of highway implements. A recipe for streamlined growth. We therefore hope for a future without any miracles, bumps and other such turbulence. We prefer fewer pyrotechnics and more sustainability.
